Welcome to the Math and Science web page for Benjamin Franklin Middle School  parents and students in grades 6 through 8.

The mathematics program for students in grades 6-8 provides a strong foundation for students of all abilities. Students are given the opportunity to develop skills that will allow them to be successful in high school.

The science program for students in grades 6-8 provides a comprehensive curriculum that exposes the students to Earth, Life, and Physical sciences over the course of their three years at BF.

If you have any questions concerning the curriculum or if you need some information that you can not find on this site, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Onembo or Mrs. Taylor.

Science Course Sequence - The sequence of courses that a student may follow is laid out in the file below named "Science Program Flow Chart". Please contact Mrs. Taylor if you have any questions regarding course selection.

Calculators are strongly recommended in all math courses. Students should bring a calculator to their math class as part of their everyday materials.

Recommended Calculators
TI-30XS Multiview Scientific Calculator - grades 5 and higher
TI-Nspire Graphing Calculator - Algebra and above

Extra Help

Practice does make perfect. If you need extra help in Science, seeing your teacher is always the best option. However, if your schedule does not make this a regular possibility, the National Honor Society does offer tutoring sessions conducted by members of this society. Please see your guidance counselor for the contact information.

The Khan Academy web site can provide additional help for those students who might be struggling in mathematics or science.
